Choosing the Right Eyeglasses for Your Lifestyle and Personality

At Epic Vision Center we serve the eye health needs of Kansas City and the surrounding areas. Our goal is to provide vision care and treatment for eye conditions like myopia, macular degeneration, and cataracts. We want everyone to have the best vision they possibly can for a lifetime.  Eyeglasses are important for eye health, but they also make a statement about your fashion and personality. In addition, the right eyeglasses are important for your lifestyle.

Business Eyeglasses

If you work in a professional setting, you'll need eyeglasses that provide a professional appearance. Classic style is often best. Metal or rimless frames look great with any attire. If you choose plastic frames, keep the color professional. Black, brown, tortoiseshell, gold, silver, and gray are good options. Oval, rectangle, or almond-shaped frames are ideal. If you spend a lot of time at a computer, you may consider blue light blocking glasses.

Active Lifestyle

If you lead an active lifestyle, consider flexible frames. These aren't just great for athletes. In fact, they're best suited for those who want to avoid common accidents that can break your glasses. If you've ever heard a sickening crunch because your glasses ended up on the floor, you understand the reasoning behind opting for flexible frames.

In addition to a flexible, durable frame, consider scratch-resistant lenses. If you spend time outside, you may want photochromatic lenses. These become clear indoors, but darken in reaction to sunlight. This gives you the benefits of sunglasses without having to change to indoor glasses when you return indoors.

Seniors

Updating your glasses can give you a more youthful appearance. Choosing a high gloss finish will add liveliness. Rectangular and cat's eye glasses are great choices for seniors. Choose a color and style that reflects your personality. Seniors typically need stronger glasses, and are more likely to require bifocal or trifocal lenses. However, the lines that were once present in these lenses are a thing of the past. Progressive lenses provide the magnification you need at different distances without lines in your glasses.

Consider Your Skin Tone

You'll want to choose a color that complements your skin tone for the best appearance. If you have a warm skin tone, opt for colors like shades of brown or olive green. Tortoiseshell, gold, and beige will enhance your natural color. Stay away from light colors like pastels, white, and black.

If you have a cool skin tone, silver, blue, gray, pink, and mauve are excellent choices. Black and dark tortoiseshell will also look great. Avoid light browns and greens, because these can give your skin a washed-out appearance.

At Epic Eye Vision Center, we know that selecting the right glasses and frames can be a challenge. When you visit an eye doctor, they will discuss your lifestyle and needs to help you discover the best eyeglasses for you.
